Driftwood and Perspex Necklace
I set a challenge for myself of using driftwood and Perspex.
Given it was to be a necklace only small pieces of driftwood wood be suitable so these were extracted from the driftwood drawer.
Next came the Perspex with a preference for a symmetrical shape.
Having selected black Perspex I need to add some colour. Only a few weeks previously I had bought some coloured shell pieces. They were really bright colours and the gold piece was finally chosen.
Issues along the way were:
-
How to drill holes in the driftwood without causing it to fall apart. This was solved using a very small hand operated drill.
-
How to hold everything together. This was solved with the use of doubled sided tape plus glue and a head pin.
-
How to hang it is still being decided. The gold band is a bit thick and overshadows the piece itself and the dark metal rope is a bit dull. So I am still looking for the perfect chain / band / rope.
