Using the Colour Wheel
If you are unsure of what colours to put together then a colour wheel could help.
The colour wheel is the basic tool in combining colours for your design. Constructed in an orderly progression, the colour wheel is the range of visible light - represented by the 12 basic colours formed into a circle. It enables the user to visualise colour balance and harmony.
Of course you can choose what ever colours you believe work together but the following selections from the colour wheel may help you if you are new to choosing colours that work together.
Complementary colours are located directly opposite each other and are used to offset each other: Eg. Red / Green, Blue/Orange.
Analogous colours are next to each other on the colour wheel and provide more subtle changes in colour. Eg. Red-violet/ Violet / Blue Violet
Triad colours are the three colours that form an equilateral triangle and are equally spaced around the colour wheel. Eg. Red / Yellow / Blue.
