Upcycling: Creating More from Less.

So what is Upcycling?

We have all heard of recycling, but upcycling?

Upcycling is using discarded, useless or waste materials and/or found objects to create a new item or product that is better or more valuable than the materials used to construct it.

In such a materialistic world it is important to re-use, recycle and where ever possible upcycle, so we prolong the life of the items we create.

For example:

I had access to faulty cool drink bottle blanks, some even fused together. After some experimenting I turned them into a vase. All but one tube was filled with silver foil used in airconditioning ducts and sealed with some cork pieces. This gave a better look to the tubes without detracting from their fantastic shapes. End result a very interesting vase from some discarded plastic. A true example of upcycling.
